So…

I was reading my Bible the other day and I came across this passage. It really spoke to what I was struggling with at the time I read it.

Galatians 5:24-26: “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it’s passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

My flesh and it’s sinful desires were crucified with Christ. They no longer have any hold over me. I’m set free from the bondage of sin. This is all by God’s grace alone. It is nothing I have done. “For freedom I’m set free.” Christ Jesus died the death I deserved. He paid the price for my sins. He took the Father’s wrath from me unto Himself, so that I can be forgiven and have eternal life. Praise God!

And because of this I can have victory over my sin. I can defeat my pride and my envy with God’s help and by His grace. I am no longer a slave to sin. Because of Christ Jesus I am a slave to righteousness. Isn’t this an encouraging thought? Saints rejoice!
